There is no denying that flexible working is here to stay well into 2023. Research y Atlassian shows that on any given day, 55% of knowledge workers currently have the choice as to where they work. According to Forbes there are 7 key factors to consider in workplace strategy for successful and productive flexible working this year:
- Equity – different jobs have varying degrees of required face-face interaction. Overall principles, (enforced by senior management) creating equity between employees is critical to successful flexibility
- Creativity – This is the new way of working, think big when providing flexibility. Can a task be completed by another team member to allow someone to work flexibly.
- Intentionality – Planning when people will be in the office is critical to success. Empower people to adopt new
morns for sharing and scheduling information to ensure teams are in the office to collaborate when required. - Leadership – Empower and educate leaders about how to lead from a distance. Set expectations and hold
employees accountable to collaboration commitments. - Balance and Boundaries – Flexible working comes with other challenges for some to switch off or take required
rest when needed. Set boundaries to prevent employee burnout. - Set Guardrails – Provide middle management and employees with clear expectations for how and when flexible working including office attendance should occur
- Great Places to Office Fitouts – The way we work has changed and so have the demands for the office. Offices need to provide a large variety of spaces for all kinds of work including: focus space, collaboration space, learning/training space, social space and so on.
