Overview
A headquarters designed for independence, for everyone who works and visits here.
Guide Dogs NSW/ACT engaged CR Commercial Property Group to deliver the transformation of their new headquarters, a purpose-designed workplace that reflects the organisation’s mission, supports its staff and volunteers, and accommodates the practical needs of guide dogs throughout.
The result is a workspace where every design decision, from the tactile black wayfinding path embedded in the floor, to dog kennels built into meeting rooms, to biophilic ceiling installations and accessible workstations, serves a specific human or canine purpose. CRCPG managed the full delivery of this complex, mission-driven project from strategy through to handover.
01
This was not a standard commercial workplace fitout. Guide Dogs NSW/ACT required a headquarters that functioned simultaneously as a professional workplace, a client-facing service environment, and a space that could accommodate working guide dogs throughout, with all the specific practical requirements that entails.
Every design and delivery decision had to be assessed through the lens of accessibility, for staff with visual impairments, for volunteers, for clients, and for the dogs themselves. The complexity of coordinating this brief across architecture, fitout, technology, and specialist trades required a single, accountable project manager with the discipline to hold all elements together.
02
CRCPG provided full project management and delivery oversight, establishing a clear brief, coordinating all consultant and contractor appointments, and maintaining cost and programme control throughout.
Close collaboration with the Guide Dogs team ensured that the organisation’s mission and operational requirements were embedded in every specification, from the accessible curved reception desk to the kennels built into meeting rooms, to the wayfinding path that runs throughout the entire floor plate.
Specialist trades, including biophilic ceiling installation, large-format AV, bespoke joinery, and accessibility-compliant fitout, were coordinated under a single delivery framework, with CRCPG maintaining accountability across all workstreams from design to handover.
03
The completed headquarters is a genuine expression of the Guide Dogs NSW/ACT mission, a workplace where accessibility is built in rather than added on, where every member of staff, every volunteer, every client, and every dog has been considered in the design.
The project demonstrates CRCPG’s ability to deliver complex, mission-critical workplace transformations where the brief goes beyond the conventional, requiring a depth of understanding, attention to detail, and delivery discipline that produced an outcome the organisation is genuinely proud of.
